Unskilled Nursing Care
Unskilled nursing care just means non-medical care. It is care that is provided by a Certified Nursing Assistant, called a Home Health Aide. Services are categorized as Personal Care Services, companion or Sitter Services, Transportation Services, or Travel Companion Services.
Services could also require: medication reminders, wound dressing changes, bathing, clothes dressing, perpetration of meals, and light housekeeping.
Personal Care Services
Personal Care Services provides assistance with bathing, toileting, grooming, shaving, dental care, dressing, and eating; and may include but is not limited to proper nutrition, home management, housekeeping task, ambulation, and transfer. These services can be provided on a regular basis if required.
Personal services are also great if you have just had surgery and you are back home from the hospital. You are not in need of medical attention, however, may need medication reminders, and someone to be there for you while recuperating. Yes, what you really need is assistance as you rest, heal, recover, and take it easy for a day, a week or two, or more. Assistance may include helping you in and out of bed, meal preparation, making your bed, helping you shower, or answering your phone calls only at your request.
Companionship / Sitter Services
Companion or Sitter Services provides task which is provided to elderly, handicapped, or convalescing individuals. Care is provided by the Home Health Aide. The Home Health Aide will keep you company.
The aide can also provide transportation to medical appointments, the hairdresser, grocery store, to the local park for some air, or other short errands. Meal preparation and serving, transportation and escort services, a household task essential to cleanliness and safety can also be provided.
Transportation Services
There may come a time when the client needs transportation services for medical appointments, to run a short errand to the pharmacy, or grocery store. But sometimes there is a more pressing need to have transportation to the hospital or outpatient surgery center. So, the physician has informed you that you will need to have surgery. Your instructions state your pre-op requirements. One of the requirements is that you arrive at the hospital or surgery center at a designated time. Also, while you are having the procedure you need to have a companion who will be available to you, and for the physician to give information to on your behalf. After the surgery, whether it’s outpatient surgery or you have been admitted to the hospital; you will need a companion to drive you home. Sure, many of you have family members, friends, and other loved ones who will be able to be there for you and accompany you home from the hospital or surgery center. But on the occasion when it is inconvenient for a loved one to be there, one of our aides from Divine Home Nursing can be the companion or escort for you and take you home from the facility after the surgery or any other medical procedure, just as a family member would.
